A beautiful widow. A daring younger man. A society-threatening age gap. Keep it a secret or risk the wrath of the Ton? Will there be any happily ever after for them?

Mrs. Anna Vanessa Maddy is a beautiful widow, now in her early 40s, although she’s always told that she looks much younger.

Duke Bryan Michael Watson has never minded a challenge, especially when society would not approve of the match.

The duke knows that if he hurts the pretty widow, regardless of her age, the members of his peerage—and all generations surrounding—will never forgive him. She’s a beautiful lady on the inside and out, and well loved by all those who know her. However, he’s immediately attracted to her, despite an age gap of more than twenty years.

Anna is lonely, despite the attempts of her teenage son and father to distract her from the sadness caused by her husband’s untimely death a few years earlier. At a grand ball, she meets a handsome young man who draws her into his aura, creating a magnetism that neither of them can deny.

Her father does not approve of the match, mostly due to the age difference, and they couple fears that society will never accept them for this reason. Without her father’s blessing, Anna cannot wed her handsome love, regardless of how she feels, and even if it means ignoring the fact that she already loves him more than she ever loved her husband.

Will Anna be forced to marry the much older Duke Doughtery, her father’s friend, instead of the love of her life?

Can Lord Bryan convince her father that his age is truly not a factor and that his business savvy and maturity should be considered first—along with his love for Anna and her son?

I really like this plot of an older women younger man who are pulled together with such passion really brings the story a live to me. How does one get their family and the ton to approve? Life for a widow back centuries ago was easier than for a single women but they still had rules they must abide with. Anna and Bryan are way before their time when a woman very much older than a man is excitable. If you have your family support than maybe you could win the ton but when both are against you there just doesn’t seem to be anyway to be with the one you love. Anna’s father has his own ideas of who she should marry and he just happens to be his VERY much older friend. Anna has a very big decision to make. Marry the man of her heart and go against her family and the ton or marry the man her father wants her to which will keep her on the good side of her family and the ton. This might be an easier decision to make if she didn’t have her young son to think about. How will all this affect him years down the road?

The characters really captured my heart going through all they had to go through. I thought this was a pretty even pace though out the story keeping the reader invested. The plot was wonderful , the characters and supporting characters make the story blend in a way that really grabs you pulling on your heartstrings for a couple that really only has an age difference against them. The conflict with her family and the tons really makes you wonder how many times a woman might have had to deal with something of this nature in the past. Judgments are never easy in today’s world I can only imagine what it would have been like in that day and time. I thought the author did a wonderful job making the reader understand the true issues and working it out in a way that gave the reader pleasure. It really made me think about the issues in today’s world and how we still are very judgmental even after all these years. Bottom line I loved the plot, the author pulled me in giving me a story of true meaning, longing, and issues that are a little touchy and did it with style.

Duke Forbidden Love The Fairbanks Love Hearts A Regency Romance Story edition by Jessie Bennett Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

I was absolutely drawn to this book by the cover and the concept. As a woman who married a younger man (although definitely not as vast an age difference as portrayed in this book), the idea of reading a Regency romance using this concept was engaging for me. I can honestly say I've only read one other historical romance that used this plot, and it was only a side plot between supporting characters, not the focus of the book. Unfortunately, that's where almost all my praise must end.

It honestly felt like the author has not done any research into nobility in Regency England. The way the characters are introduced and addressed is completely incorrect. In fact, at one point a side character asked if the heroine was interested in "the Earl of Viscount." Why would you give someone a title named after another title? Honorifics were used haphazardly and with little regard to history.

The characters were....frustrating. I liked Anna at first, but as the book went on, she became more and more childlike, throwing tantrums at the slightest provocation. Her emotions were all over the chart, and she kept flip-flopping on her feelings towards pretty much everyone. She would alternately hate and then love a character, all within a few pages. I absolutely despised her at the end. "Duke Bryan" or "Duke Watson" or "Lord Bryan" or "Bryan," depending on the whim of the author, was a more likable character, although I honestly don't know what drew him to Anna. She went hot and cold on him so often, and really offered him nothing in return for all his trouble, I feel like he would've moved on rather than deal with her antics. Additionally, there was a really creepy vibe between Anna and her teenage son. I think the author was trying to be playful and show how close they were, but it made me uncomfortable.

Finally, the whole thing needs a run through with a red pen from an editor. There were half sentences everywhere. Everywhere. Sentences that were whole were chopped to bits with incorrectly used commas. There were even instances of characters calling each other the wrong names! (For example, on page 59 "Thank you, Anna. I wish I could take credit for its beauty..." - Anna was the person talking. The author meant to write Liz, the person to whom Anna is talking.) The author also used quite a number of anachronistic phrases and words that made me cringe. Just a bit of research would have cleared up a lot of them.

If I hadn't committed myself to reading the whole thing, this would have been a DNF for me, and I *rarely* do that. I really wanted to like this book because the concept was so fascinating, but I honestly cannot recommend it to anyone until the author hires an editor.
I like the idea of the older woman for a change. It's not quite acceptable, but the heart knows what the heart wants. This book shows that life can throw you curve.
I must say this isn't my usual historical romance. Very good read for a teen. A little too tame for me and the time period isn't necessarily to my liking.
What a BEAUTIFUL May to December love story. Anna proved that age didn't matter and Bryan pro ed the heart wants what it was wants. It also proved some men are obsessed with a young girl and never let it go.
This was a very well written book I could not put it down. Duke Bryan Michael Watson has feelings for Mrs. Anna Vanessa Maddy who is a 40 year old widow and is more that twenty years his senor. The ton,and her Father are all against the match. Will these two get a happy ending?
Jesse's entire Fairbanks Series is. excellent, over the top good! The characters are all splendid and the intrigue keeps you turning the pages. You'll want to read every book in series and be yearning for yet another to follow. Highly recommend her books!
This book is about Mrs Anna Dupree, and Bryan Michael Watson, Duke of Essex. Anna is a widow with a son at Harow. She has been very lonely since her husband's sudden death. She meets the Duke of Essex at a ball and they have an instant attraction. So the story begins. I enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it.
